Well done to Lore Paterson, once again setting a new best at Coventry in difficult conditions.

Also at Coventry, we had Andy Wilkinson and Paul Slatford battling it out for a top 5 finish, and Sue Gough was on the core team that organised the parkrun.

The Anstiss family completed the Norwich parkrun – hope it was not as wet as Coventry.

In this week’s parkrun round-up we have a tale of three pacers and four PBs.

Pacers were in operation at Coventry and three Sphinxies took on the great power and responsibility that goes with the role. Andy and Imran were boosted by adrenalin and finished more than half-a-minute ahead of the advertised pace, while Sue was metronomic and precision personified by hitting the 30 minute mark exactly. Well done!

There were also three PBs at Coventry, with Brian, Will and Lucy beating their previous best times around the course. Further North, there was also a PB at Durham for Catherine. Well done to all!

Most enjoyable Park Run at Coventry this morning. Decided to attend the newbies’ talk, no idea why, but ironically I met up with 4 friends from Redway Runners, Milton Keynes, who were attending Coventry Park Run for the very first time (en route to Chester for the Chester Marathon tomorrow). Garry Biddle, I’ve known for a couple of years from the EMGP circuit and his partner, Rose Turney, I met in Lanzarote. They were accompanied by Becky and Simon Read, the former looking for a Park Run PB quicker than 29:27. We all ran together and with great encouragement from the other three and a bit of local knowledge from yours truly Becky knocked a massive 45 seconds off her time, coming in at 28:26. A great morning and what Park Run is all about really. Wishing them all the best for Chester.

In Rose’s words:

Becky got a 45 second PB with help from Mitch and the rest of us. Mitch was explaining the course to her as we ran round having not previously done it before. Letting her know where the hillier and easier parts were. Very well organised and marshalled event that we will definitely be returning to.

Another bountiful parkrun Saturday, including a parkrun debut, PBs, top 5 finishes, parkrun tourism and volunteers.

Coventry saw Jamie Richards run (and walk) his first ever parkrun – a PB is expected every time now! Andy Wilkinson and Paul Slatford took two of the top 5 positions, in 3rd and 5th respectively. There were PBs for Ian Cunningham, Will Robertson and Ella Wilkinson. There were also a few Sphinx volunteers, namely, Sue and Catherine Gough, Imran Ali, Kevin Dick and Andy Hales.

Gerry and Judith Anstiss visited Woodhouse Moor (Leeds) again, and Steven Osmond and Nigel Bassnett attended Brueton.
