Did this with Jackie, my daughter Katie, her boyfriend, Tom Padgett, and his father, Graham.
My 6th different Park Run venue in two weeks was as flat as the proverbial pancake and consisted of trails and footpaths around the lake at Colwick Country Park with one small lap of the water, one big lap, than another small one to finish.
Conditions underfoot made Leamington Park Run yesterday seem like the Sahara. Puddles, potholes and mud made it treacherous underfoot, but nevertheless it was one of the most scenic courses I’d done.
Graham and I left the ‘youngsters’ to it and set about trying to get him a PB. A sprint finish enabled him to knock 10 seconds off his best (31:05) – an excellent effort considering it was like a cross-country course in places – and his reward – he was allowed to ring the ‘PB bell’ at the finish to let all and sundry know of his success (a great idea I think).
A great summer course I reckon, a la Conkers/Kingsbury and definitely in my top 10!
