Despite the shocking conditions, Sphinx AC were well-represented at various ParkRuns this weekend. Coventry 32 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and 1 PB. Conditions were like a bad year at Glastonbury, with a lot of sloppy mud and a huge puddle near the railway line (which enforced a small diversion). Being the fourth “birthday” of Coventry ParkRun, this run was fancy dress, with people encouraged to run in their pyjamas.

Sphinx AC men and women attended the Midlands XC championships at Newbold Comyn in absolutely atrocious weather and running conditions. The morning had been dry and bright, but a storm came in from the west as the event was about to get underway. Torrential rain, thunder & lightning, hail and wind made conditions very unpleasant for the runners. The infamous ditch at Newbold was considerably swollen, claiming many a victim on the day.

23 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 3 PBs – one each for the marvellous Markhams! Conditions were dry and bright, but the saturated field was sloppy underfoot. The overall attendance was very large again, but the Midlands XC in the afternoon meant that Sphinx representation was down a little. Sphinx AC were represented at two ParkRuns this weekend, with Alex Bartlett missing out on a PB by just one second. Coventry 24 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with 1 first-timer and no PBs. As with the last few events, the start was very sloppy underfoot and there was a very large attendance, causing some slow-downs on the narrower parts of the course.
