Result for the Abingdon marathon, 22-Oct-2017

Thanks to Collin Taylor for the following report: Many of you will already be familiar with the popular Abingdon Marathon. Located just south of Oxford a ‘flat and fast’ course awaits those prepared to forego a Sunday morning lie-in to beat the 8.00 am road closures and be on the start line ready for the 9.00 am kick off. The start and finish centres around the athletics track at Tilsley park where the race starts before heading off in to the lanes of Oxfordshire.

Thanks to Wayne for the following report: Sphinx was well represented at this years cross country relay , at Wolverhampton with the men and ladies fielding 2 teams , with Darren and pete making their cross country debut Storm Brian played its part in making the 2 lap course (6 km each per runner ) even more of a challenge with a tough head wind to contend with, also for some had the effects of Friday nights presentation night to also contend with , Thanks to everyone who took part and good luck for the forthcoming xc season starting on Saturday 11th November , Ladies at Coundon park and the blokes are traveling down to Gloucester

Results for the Birmingham International Marathon, 15-Oct-2017

Thanks to Darren Hallett for the following report and photo: I decided to give the inaugural Birmingham Marathon a go. Starting at Alexander stadium the course cuts through the middle of the city centre before heading out towards Bourneville (via Edgebaston) for a couple of 9 mile loops before finishing back in the centre. The course was wall marshalled and support was steady throughout. Other than one steep hill near Bourneville the course was relatively flat with only a couple of areas of undulation.

Result for the Worcester Beacon race, 14-Oct-2017

Thanks to Craig Robinson for the following report: On an unusually warm Saturday the 14th October I took part in the 62nd Worcester Beacon race hosted by Worcester AC. It is a 6.6 mile multi terrain race with a friendly atmosphere held on the picturesque Malvern Hills. The course incorporates tarmac road, woodland paths and exposed tracks, grass and rocks. The run starts and finishes in the Rose Gardens which are fairly central in the town.

Result for the Manchester half-marathon, 15-Oct-2017

Thanks to Garry Barnes for the following report: Entered this half as a late entry and glad I did. The course is flat save a couple of slight drags, but PB potential all the way if you are hunting a fast half. Excellent organisation with race hq centered around Trafford cricket stadium. Good transport links using the metro with free parking at the stations outside the city. Overall a good event with that big city feel.
