Well done to Colin Piper, Wayne Broadbent and James & Pip Abrams on completing this off-road race, with James finishing 2nd in the Trembler. These races are an excellent opportunity to get mud on your shoes ahead of the cross-country season, with the option of a trembler of 5km or a wobbler of 10km.
Catherine Gough has sent the following report:
This summer I’ve been staying in Cambridge and been training with the welcoming Cambridge Triathlon club.
Kevin Henry 5k series is an interclub league run by Saffron Striders, Cambridge & Coleridge AC, Haverhill Runners, Newmarket Joggers, Ely running Club and Cambridge Triathlon Club. It is a team event with each runner adding to the clubs score. The first 6 male and first 6 female score points, with each extra club member scoring a minus point, with the aim of scoring the lowest number of points to win.
This race was in Haverhill and had a similar course to Northbrook 10k. Uphill for the first half, with one major hill, downhill for the second half. Enjoyable, but the rain made the road very slippy!
6 Sphinx runners guested at the 5th Northbrook handicap race in their 6-race summer series, with each race being held over the same 5k course.
Paul Slatford, Lisa Abbott and Imran Ali competed in the newest WRRL race, a 5km course around Leamington that finished with a lap of the running track that produced some excellent finishing straight gurning faces (check out the photos below). Pre-race reports of a flat and fast course may have been exaggerated.
7 Sphinx runners ran as guests in the first of Northbrook’s handicap series.
Another parkrun Saturday, another top 3 finish for Andy Wilkinson, another new course for Steve Osmond and the extended Timms family debut at Coventry.
There was parkrun tourism aplenty this week, with most heading to the inaugural Stratford parkun, Wayne at Poole and Alex at Rushmoor.
Mitch, Anthony and Vicky ran as guests in the first of a series of six evening 5k races, held on the first Wednesday of the month from April to September.
With our local Coventry parkrun not on, we bring you Sphinx parkrun on tour (in very wet conditions in the Midlands).
