Result for the North Eastern Harrier League XC (Thornley Hall Farm, Peterlee), 10-Feb-2018

Thanks to Catherine Gough for the following report and photos: “The future of distance running in Durham is coloured orange” according to a Durham City Harriers coach. This is my first season running in the North Eastern Harrier League cross country, running in an orange vest. You can’t fail to notice the North East is very hilly, making the Newbold Comyn hill look flat in comparison! All the children, men & women run in the the same place on the same day.

Thanks to Kev Naughton and Craig Pears for the following race reports: This is a fell race of approx 14 miles and follows public footpaths, open country involving 1200 feet of ascent over Bradgate Park, Broombriggs and Beacon Hill country park. Weather on the day was ideal…dry, bright and fresh. Conditions under foot very tricky with lots of mud. All effort in going forwards seemed to go either sideways or backward!

Congratulations to Jason and the teams at Coventry parkrun on their 8th birthday! Congratulations and well done to Ellie Davies, Laura Pibworth-Dolinski and Katie Timms on PBs at Coventry, Rugby and Brueton respectively. Mitch informed that Katie’s was “a LIFETIME 5k pb of 27:07, beating her previous best by 2 mins 12 secs. Very proud mum and dad”. Coventry 25 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 1 PB.

Thanks to Wayne for the following report: 8 sphinx blokes and 5 ladies made long trip up the m1, with some travelling a lot further on that road than what was needed !!!!!!!! to finally arrive at wollarton Hall, Nottingham for this year’s Midlands xc championships, The course was a mixture of hills, swamp, more hills and toped off with more swamp over a 8km course for laddies and 12km course for the blokes Thanks to all that took part Final league races of the season is Saturday 10th February with the ladies at Wolverhampton and the blokes at Aldridge.
