Thank you to Wayne for the following write up and photos
14 Sphinx Ladies and 12 sphinx men and even our Commander in Chief (Bergs) made the long trip down to Cattle Country Farm, somewhere in the back end of Gloucestershire for the final race in this seasons cross country league. Due to some flooding the course was altered which meant that there was no need to swim but even still the course was a challenging one with strong winds!!! Our new members Lorraine and Jonathan made their XC debut at this event. As the venue name suggests a lot of what was attached to runners legs was not mud!!!!!! Overall for the series Sphinx men finished in 8th place out of 21 teams and Sphinx mens B team finished in 5th out of 12 teams. Dave Brewis achieved a brilliant 3rd place overall in the individual rankings. Full results are available on the Birmingham & district cross country website. Listed below are the finishing times and positions for Saturdays race. This season has seen a record number of Sphinx ladies take part in the competition, along with a lot of Sphinx men making their xc debuts throughout the series , Thank you on behalf of the club for those that have represented the club in the races this season, hopefully after your 10 month summer break we can all return fully fit and not broken and ready to take on next seasons challenge. The dates and venues for the men’s 2019⁄2020 season will be announced at the league AGM at the end of March these will be put on the website so you can put them in your calendars.
