Thank you to Steve Court for the following report
6 Sphinx runners made a weekend trip to the Lake District to run in the Coniston 14 road race. The race has been run since 1982 and as the website describes “The hilly route follows the 13.875 miles of road that circles Coniston water and there are stunning views of the surrounding mountains” The day was good for running, overcast with a light breeze. The first half was on a main road largely traffic free before returning alongside the banks of the lake with lots and lots of undulations up to around 12 miles , then a nice descent back into the village and finish in the school. A well run event attracting all classes of runner with a 3 hour time limit.
