JLR Fun Run 2023

Several members of Sphinx AC are proud to have supported JLR at their third annual Charity Fun Run in memory of those who lost their lives to Covid 19. Over 300 employees and their families took to the start line on Sunday 1st October for three different races around the test track at the companies Fen End test facility. There was a 1km, 5km and 10km distance available, all of them starting on the main 3 lane wide closed test track and finishing in front of the control tower for the facility.

Coombe8 is Back for 2023

The Sphinx AC Coombe 8 is a tough multi-terrain course with a mixture of wooded trails and undulating farm land at the historic site of Coombe Abbey on the outskirts of Coventry. Back for 2023, in a new format, the course has been changed to spend more time in the woodlands and less time in the open “Sheep field”, or the first time ever there is also the option of an 8km (5mile) route for those less sure about running the full 8miles.

Sphinx 2023 Handicap Series - Race 5 result

Our 5th race of the 2023 Handicap Championship took place on Thursday 17th August on a 5.2 mile course in Corley. Congratulations go to Andy Wilkinson as first runner over the line and Dave Brewis as the fastest runner on the night (no course record this time though Dave!) Sphinx 2023 Handicap Series - Race 4 Result

Thursday 14th July saw the 4th race in this year’s handicap series take place at Birdingbury. Winning the trophy on this occasion was Fintan McSharry with the fastest runner on the night accolade going to Jack Edwards. Well done to all runners and a special mention to our debutant runners Amy and Barry (both of whom will no doubt be starting further back in the field next time!) Finally a big thank you to all the marshals and volunteers who make these races possible

Sphinx 2023 Handicap Series - Race 3 Result

Thursday 15th June saw the 3rd race in this year’s handicap series take place at Monks Kirby. Congratulations go to Sally-Anne Tully as first runner over the line and the phenomenal Dave Brewis as the fastest runner on the night with a new course record of 25:36. Hilly 100 - Sphinx are Mixed Team Winners!

Congratulations to Sphinx Mixed Team A - winners of this year’s Cotswold Hilly 100 Relay race in a fantastic time of 11h 42’. The Hilly 100 is a 100 mile road relay race divided into 10 legs of approximately 10 miles each following mainly minor roads through the Cotswolds incorporating a fair few hills along the way (hence the name).
