5 Sphinx runners completed this challenging but picturesque trail half-marathon. Jackie Timms completed her fourth Trailffest in a row; Tom Padgett and Katie Timms their second in a row; Mitch returned to running it after having to spectate last year; and Laura Pibworth-Dolinski made her debut and loved it! Vicky Brewin was wombling free at Winbeldon Common for the first time, The Carvers were first-timers at Cannock Chase and Craig Spencer gets another PB at Delamere - congratulations! Sunday saw the Rugby 10 mile race take place on an undulating course. This was also our 10 mile road championship race, so Jackie Stuart assigned a handicap time to everyone and the winner is the person whose performance most exceeds that benchmark. If you pardon the pun, it was a close run thing as there were good performances throughout but Victoria O’Brien is the winner of the 10 miler. She just pipped her sister-in-law, Caroline, by 5 seconds.

Congratulations to Catherine Gough and Lacey Abbott for their PBs at Cardiff and Coventry respectively. There was plenty of parkrun tourism this week with Pawel Langer first-timing at Bournemouth, Karen Timothy first-timing at Belton House, Mitch and Jackie Timms first-timing at Stratford-upon-Avon, and Alex Bartlett, Imran Ali and Vicky Brewin attending the first ever Wythall parkrun. Cardiff 1 Sphinx AC runners/family/friends ran this weekend, with no first-timers and 1 PB.

The final race in the club summer handicap series was held on Sunday, 10th September. First over the line was a guest - Charlotte Harris, other half of birthday boy, Al Harris. The first Sphinxie over the line was Darren Harriott, and the nearest to their predicted time was Mitch. We also had a couple of juniors, Annie Carberry and Lacey Abbott, completing the five mile race. Well done to everyone, fine performances throughout.
