Thanks to Craig Robinson for the following report:
On an unusually warm Saturday the 14th October I took part in the 62nd Worcester Beacon race hosted by Worcester AC. It is a 6.6 mile multi terrain race with a friendly atmosphere held on the picturesque Malvern Hills. The course incorporates tarmac road, woodland paths and exposed tracks, grass and rocks. The run starts and finishes in the Rose Gardens which are fairly central in the town. The course then winds its way across the Malvern Hills on decent but challenging pathways up to the Worcestershire Beacon and then tests descending skills with some steep gradients coming home. Not much of the course could be described as flat! I found the long steep climbs quite testing but good fun on the fast descents.
I finished 72nd out of a field of 209 in a time of 1:01:32 which is somewhat annoying as my target was under the hour. Hey-ho I will return next year to crack that!
